Elation

Another medal! My heart leaped with joy. An unspeakable feeling of pride burst forth, putting me in great spirits. We have won yet another Olympic medal!

What more, the bronze was delivered by Pandelela Rinong, a Sarawakian! The heroic winner is just 19! I had been following her way before the Olympics (every time I read the sports section, I usually scan for any mention of any Malaysian athletes)  and knew that she had a strong performance record. But to think that she secured a medal!

China currently dominates the whole of Olympic, grabbing many golds in various categories. I suppose it bothers everyone that the Chinese are sweeping all the golds and how good they really are. Thus, this win (our country's second medal!) was really heartfelt and a boost for the pride of the whole nation. This is a great achievement.

Although we ordinary citizens had nothing to do with it, it still made my day a whole lot better. I was in better spirits than when I woke up for class, for instance! And provided that diving isn't as nail biting as an intensely fuelled badminton match (which I couldn't bear to watch when Chong Wei VS Lin Dan), it made the win even more impressive as only Pandelela herself knows what she is aiming for when she plunges into the water.

And thus, all this hype of the Olympics had gotten to me. And Mom. We want to produce an Olympic winner too. A hope for the nation. But Dad was totally against the idea of turning Jolin into a competitive sports women/athlete. Why not? We want glory and pride for our country's sports!

We need it badly. Our nation is desperately in need of more young sports talent. Pandelela (first Malaysian to win an Olympic non-badminton medal) has just proven that young talent and fresh faces have a chance to score too. Well done to the Sarawakian princess!

If only Dad would approve, then another young athlete will be in the making...

Realization

As of now, I don't even want to think of having a boyfriend or not, which seemed so important just a few days ago.

The excitement had died down, and now I realise I don't even care about having to commit myself to this type of relationship. It may be tempting, but what is the point of a short fling?

What I want to do now the most is to enjoy the good company of the people that I like being around. And also not being taken advantage of by certain people. Since time is of the essence, every little thing I do counts to myself=)

These memories created now, whether sweet or bitter, will be all that I have once I leave.
