Recollection of thoughts

It's been exactly two months since I started a new life in Adelaide. New surroundings, new friends... but everything else pretty much stayed the same.

In the short span of time, several things happened. Events and occurrences took place one after another. Having housemates to live with also meant that every other day, there is a story to be shared.

All these new experiences hasn't changed who I am. My girlfriends and I have had on and off crushes on different guys, lots of sudden excitement, lengthy discussions about our feelings, and also anti-climatic endings with disappointment, but also as a recent case has demonstrated, there might be a cloud with a silver lining.

But perhaps the most disconcerting thing is the issue with friendship. You can never be sure if the people you call friends, might just turn out to be acquaintances (hi-bye friends). The closeness and distancing is always continuously shifting. The bond is always wavering and never still or solid. One day, you feel understood and close with a friend, the next day the bond has disappeared completely and he or she looks at you with indifferent eyes.

This is why I think friends are not forever. You can trust them, have fun with them, but never depend completely on them. To put it simply, I find it useful to remind myself with this phrase, 'Reduce dependency on stakeholders'. It's just something useful I picked up from Event Management class, which I think can be applied to friendship too. By reducing dependency on stakeholders, you would not feel at a loss if the stakeholder suddenly pull out even though they have been constantly supporting or aware of your existence.

But of course, it is always good to be optimistic, cheerful and friendly! This way I can end up meeting more interesting new people and have a good time learning about new things and sharing knowledge, interests and passions.

Overall, I just hope that my stay here in Adelaide will still be exciting and fun and not fall into a routine, mundane pace.
